The regiment wont buy me the boots I need prescribing!!

Like a few people in the army, I suffer from feet shaped like a hobbit. Tried a few types of boots but always come back the same injury. So I have finally been able to get up to RRU and been issued a nice chit from the nice lady saying im to get issued altberg sneakers or tabbing boots. That, along with the insoles should fix my problem and make my vagina good again!
So do you think I walked into the stores, handed in the neatly folded bit of paper and got welcomed with open arms? Well incase you have no clue of how the army stores work, I didnt!
They basically said they havent been given any clearance to buy boots as the current boots "adequate." So the solution issued is to buy my own. I think we all know they are not cheap and im not to keen to spend my beer tokens with the promise of "keep the receipt and claim it back" How do i find out more about this situation? And has anyone got any advice apart from getting some man the **** up pills from the med center?

It shouldn't be a problem, they've been issuing special footwear for people like you for centuries after all

The Fusiliers museum in the Tower of London has a good example:

...an iron malingerer's boot!

Vol 6, Part Five, Chapter 4 of JSP 886 is your friend. It sounds like you've been mugged off by the Storeman, you need to speak to the Organ Grinder, not the monkey here - or in this case, the RQMS/QM .

Go and get the MO to confirm you can get it paid back. Then buy em and get the cash back

If he knows nowt about it ask some one else.

You ain't the first person to need wide boots, you are just sounding like a quim wth no common sense

Go and talk to an adult in an adult manner with out your bottom lip quivering and sort it out

This is a better answer than mine

Having said that, don't knock up to RQMS and start quoting JSPs at him immediately, just ask his advice

Thanks alot. Will have a look and see what the deal is. I kinda expected the reply I got from the satffy in the seat. Nothing ever seems to be simples. And gimp, you advice is duely noted. Will be sure to roll my over sized lip up a notch and try and say more than yes sir no sir. Just a bit conscious of the chain of command and people getting the royal hump about finding things out for yourself. deff wont be slapping people with a JSP though

No worries. Half the time people don't know what the process is so just say "No" instead of finding out. Raise it with your chain of command, either your PC or Coy 2ic or something - there must be someone on side who can talk to a grown up on your behalf to get it sorted.

We're not a third world Army that can't get footwear for our soldiers.... yet!

It surprises me that with the umpteen different variants of brown boots, all of the old black boots and the multiple types of desert boots that we still have to buy 'special' footwear.

Because some of us have uniquely and horribly shaped feet that nothing but a special measure will fix, plus the new bog standard issue brown abominations (non-teeth arms aren't allowed the decent Altbergs without a podiatrist's chit) are IMO even worse than the old Combat Highs.
