Just saw this - excellent film - although the beginning moves a bit slowly. A young man Michael (David Cross) - sixteen or so - in postwar Germany - has a passionate affair with an older woman Hannah (Kate Winslet). In between their love making, she has him read classics to her. Then, one day, she disappears. Years later, when he is studying law, she resurfaces, in a way he could have never imagined. The performances of Winslet, as she ages over a period of 40 years, of Cross, as the young Michael, and of Ralph Fiennes as the adult Michael, are amazing.
