Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I'm pretty sure that one of the Olympic aims was to attract inward investment to UK. Starting to deliver early, with his extended family lining up to be fast-tracked into the UK.

"An Olympic competitor has claimed political asylum in Britain, the Mail can reveal.
The man, believed to be a middle distance runner in his mid 20s from Africa, was being held by the UK Borders Agency last night after walking into a police station in Leeds and asking for asylum."

  2. oh well I expect the organisers have something in place ie instant UK citizenship then run for us.

I thought the North Korean female football team had done a bunk too after the organisers showed the SOUTH Korean flag

  3. If we act fast enough we can get him signed up for our GB Team

  4. It's been determined that he will still be allowed to compete, but with a police escort a la Olympic Torch sketch. Details are still being finalised.

  5. I live in London SW18 (Down-town Mogadishu). Everywhere I went yesterday trying to earn money and pay tax, the poxy OILIMPICS stood in my way.

Roads blocked. Bus routes 'disappeared'. Bus stops closed for no apparent reason. Car parking spaces (I don't drive) blocked off but empty. Underground heaving more than usual but only THREE 'severely delayed lines' that I know about. Stations shut or entrances and exits all buggered up. The poxy hop, skip and jump fiasco has not even started yet!

A bright spot! Men from The Black Watch standing about at Earl's Court in temperatures over 30 degree Celsius, laughing and joking and looking efficient and helpful. After Afghanistan apparently, yesterday's London heat was decidedly chilly! The London Underground lady's reaction to the presence of The Black Watch: "Thank God for them!".

For a nation that invariably flies our own flag upside down, I am not surprised that the twerps in Glasgow flew the wrong flag for the North Korean ladies.

Yes, I admit I am a grumpy old man, but I thought Zil lanes were an invention of Stalin and the fat adulterous oaf Prescott, not Cameron and Clegg. Outrageous!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait until she finds them and her daughter behind the bicycle sheds.

  7. Much though I would prefer it to have been from the drawing board of the Bullingdon Club, Zil Lanes appear to have been invented by (I'm allright) Jacques Rogge of the IOC and were a compulsory requirement to stage the games. They are intended to avoid the scenes in Atlanta where some competitors failed to arrive in time for their events due to traffic congestion. They are still a pain in the arrse though.

  8. blinking foreigners......think they can come here and win all our medals and then live off state. I ask ya!

  9. Are you me? We seem to have identical thought patterns, scary.

  10. I´ve heard that chip shops near the events have to close as not to provide competition to the sponsor McDonalds.
FIFA tried this in Berlin with the local pubs to ban them from selling their beer as not to provide competition to their sponsor Anheuser Bush´s Budweiser piss. The locals were not impressed and FIFA had to give in (and they also accepted Bitburger brewery to become an additional sponsor for Germany).

The flag was on an electronic scoreboard-not flying, and the video was sent from London.

  12. Summat to do with beer being a foodstuff in Germany as far as I understand (not the MackieD's bit...that's not food)
