Best not to underestimate how badly they want a female leader, regardless of how able they are, it's eating them up that they're well behind the 'diversity' stakes as pretty much all other parties have had a Doris at the helm already.

Not sure where this leaves Beaker Starmer though.

I personally believe Starmer is toast, once the coalition of the damned is mobilised (TU, Momentum, ‘the Membership’). He’ll make the final, but Long-Bailey will get the gig, in order for the Project to continue, with a sister at the helm, ably supported by another sister, Rayner.
The Dream Team indeed. *

And therefore Becky and Ang will get my vote.

I notice the Labour Party have 70,000 new members since the last election. I wonder how many like me and a few other arrseratii have joined just to "help" in the leadership election?

It’s almost worth it to assist in getting them to jump. I’ve said it before a social conscience doEs not a Socialist make. Nor do you need to be one. They’re redundant

McDonnell has just retreated to the shadows but still running the very powerful left of the party. Thornberry and Phillips are only in it for the ego trip, Nandy to centrist, and Starmer prepared to look at amending the lefty policies. So Long-Bailey will become leader as she is Corbyn without a cock. However the left will never admit their support for her is because of her lefty tendencies but for PC reasons wanting a tit swinging leader of the party. The fact that this consigns them to the political wilderness for years is irrelevant.

I agree, this will prove their PC credentials to themselves regardless of the cost. They too can say they had a female leader (not that it's really done anyone much good apart from Thatcher)

McDonnell is a player but not the controller. This lot need rooting out if Labour is to sort itself out.

More chicanery involving John Lansman and Momentum .... accusations of an election stitch up to chose Rebecca Long-Bailey .....

Labour moderates claimed it was “ridiculous” that members had not been asked their opinion on the four other candidates, pointing out that Momentum had been founded to make Labour more democratic.

They were joined by Paul Mason, the former BBC journalist and prominent Labour activist, who likened the move to a survey carried out by a “South American dictatorship”.

To me this just confirms we were extremely fortunate that the current Labour gang were not elected into Government ... they would have used every devious means possible to stay in power .

No comrade, there is a choice. You can endorse Becky and Grangela or say nyet. Simple choice.

Have to say I quite enjoyed Lisa Nandy standing up to Brillo this evening. I disagree with a lot of what she says, but in my opinion, a much more impressive individual than Starmer, Long Bailey, Phillips or Thornberry. That means she has no chance unfortunately.

It says something when even Paul Mason is calling this out.

Jess Philip's being a little economical with the truth, stating she studied post graduate, which she did. However no mention that she dropped out. Oh dear brothers and sisters.

Telling Dianne Abbott to “fcuk off”, whilst admirable, is hardly a Leadership quality. The fact Jess Phillips is seriously considered as a potential leader of a once powerful Political Party only highlights the lack of real Political talent and gravitas at Westminster. She’s a joke, but no more so than any of the other so-called leadership candidates.
She's another entitled idiot with the brains of an amoeba. As an aside, I've walked behind her in Westminster tube station before now - her arrse is massive.

Thornberry making her pitch live on the BBC News at the moment. Comedy Gold. "I'm determined not to fall through the cracks". Not much danger of that lady!
