The New Cold War. What an interesting subject that is. There are many and varied viewpoints to be discussed and mulled over in view of the present world situation and the ever-changing geo-political situation.

Unfortunately, the usual, very unwelcome, and unwholesome, ARRSE suspects have apparently suceeded in turning what could (or could have become) be a very interesting thread it into one of their many "Bugys-bashing" sessions.

More than half the thread is, in the meantime, dedicated to moronically repeated stuff about "Bugsy", and how sad is that? The deranged and obsessive morons have done this, quite literally, hundreds of times. It's never made any great impression - least of all on me! All it has done is to thoroughly derail any threads such that folks who'd be wont to contribute just don't bother. What a shame that is!

So why don't we get back to the subject of the thread? What could be more interesting than to discuss the "New Cold War" in present cirumstances?

If youse gacky bollock-brains feel the need of yet another Bugsy-bashing thread, just start one! Nuff sedd!

You're a lying internet-wide troll on permasend. On the plus side you're very old and thankfully were never a soldier.

Is this a new Bugsy Bingo Entry? The...
'what an interesting and/or important discussion but everybody is victimising me again instead of discussing the topic at hand'

... despite not actually adding anything to the subject matter?

Bugsy, my little purveyor of trouser igniting tales, the best thing you can do to improve the flow and content of any thread is stay out of it. Perhaps a new 'BSB'* sub forum could be created - a bit like the new 'FYB' sub forum - just for you. That might work.

Never a soldier? Never a soldier?

As an airborne CMT, Bugsy has fired more rounds from more different weapons than the allied forces in WW2.

His real achievement was a 1mm group of twenty 81mm mortar rounds fired from the hip whilst standing in the back of a speeding Land Rover crossing rocky terrain... Blindfolded.

Unfortunately, oh relator of bovine manure; any subject that you elect to "contribute" to, usually tailspin into obscurity because you fail to back up any of your facts with concrete evidence. If you continue to blame the Americans (note spelling) and the British Government (again, note spelling) for every offence against the former Soviet Union, you will find that the majority of jingoistic arrsers will shoot you down with hard facts. The fact that you are so easy to wind up makes this task fun. It's like pushing a slinky downstairs!

Describing Bugsy as a slinky is almost spot on given that a slinky is totally pointless and very amusing. Where the comparison falls short though is in the lying. A slinky just doesn't tell lies.

No, but it just lies there until you give it a push.

Probably not a lot - hopefully the quality of equipment will become better, but defence is not a vote winner.
That's something I've never understood, as IMO governments fanny around interfering too much in other areas, when defence of the realm/state is the most important task they're given.

Yup welcome back to great power competition. So what are the odds of you folks increasing the size of your armed forces?
I know it's a long way from one side of the Pond to the other but surely you've noticed we'll have a couple of the second largest aircraft carriers ever built up & running in the not too distant future - a not insignificant investment.
That goes alongside our nuclear powered hunter-killer submarines (remind me again who else has them), Trident subs (ditto & replacements in the planning stage)...

You might want to aim your question towards Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Hungary, Italy, Holland, Denmark, Canada, Portugal...

The Canadians are pretty decent, we like them. But I would rather have more of you folks then the rest of the lot. Call it a complement. The problem is we just need a bigger military and you folks are in the same boat.

So, Comrade Putin thinks world peace is a very fragile thing. Funny though, the world had been becoming more stable, and tensions defused, until he took power.

Sweden issues Cold War-style conflict guide to residents

<<"If Crisis or War Comes" advises Swedes on rationing, propaganda and clean water. Although Sweden has not fought in a military conflict for 200 years, it has been increasingly concerned about Russian aggression.>>

I found a link to an English language version of the PDF
The Intro is here: The brochure If Crisis or War Comes
The PDF is here: https://www.dinsakerhet.se/siteasse.../om-krisen-eller-kriget-kommer---engelska.pdf
Sorry but the file is too large to upload to this post.

An older version in Swedish is also avialable here: https://www.riksdagen.se/globalasse...krisen-eller-kriget-kommer-en-uppfoljning.pdf
