Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Daily Telegraph July 8th.
For more than six decades, Howard Manoian revelled in his heroic reputation as one of the para troopers who landed in Nazi-Occupied France on D-Day.
He was awarded the Legion d'Honneur, Frances highest award for bravery.
Mr Manoians unit was not the 82nd.Airborne Division, as he claimed, but the 33rd.Chemical Decontamination company, which operated well behind the front line.
An 84 year old American Walt!
  2. Top blagging!

You'd have thought that the Frogs would have done some research before awarding someone the Legion d'Honneur!?!?!
  3. True, but lets face it the frenchies have never exactly been top draw when its come to the martial way of things.
  4. I understand that they (frogs) are taking it back.............if they can find him, he has left his home in France, a neighbour said "He's feeling poorly, and has returned to America".
  5. Ah, the dear old 33rd CDC...of course there unit designation and their actual mission were not necessarily the same thing. Talking to Howard he has revealed that their mission was to take out some suits and make sure they were "laundered". He explained how he was responsible for most of the wet-work. Obviously he was a crack assassin.
