The House of Commons?

Hi guys, this is doing the rounds at work. Despite being extremely plausible, can anyone determine the accuracy (as I cannot be arrsed!). I suspect that it is utter b0lloxs (especially the drunk driving and the fraud, followed by credit cards and spouse abuse). Reading it I suspect that it is for the US or French senate, but has been altered for UK taste:

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little over than 600 employees, yet has the following statistics?

29 have been accused of spouse abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
19 have been accused of writing bad cheques
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault
71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
8 have been arrested for shoplifting
21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year
Can you guess which organization this is...?

...They are members of the British Houses of Parliament, That's the same group that produces hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in check. Bunch of lying, cheating, crooks the bloody lot of them!

To expand on hackle's answer - urban myth started in about 1999.
71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
Hows that possible? Theyd just give themselves another pay rise wouldnt they

While fake i think it could easily be based on the truth especially with the low moral standards of a few members of parliament.
