The EU and Beijing

Isn't there talk of CANZUK with Japan, South Korea, and Singapore free trade agreement. All on the same wave lengh and advanced economies. Best to leave the USA out of it as they are too big and will always want to dominate everything.

America is a worry to the rest of the ‘Western’ world.
it now seems hell bent on becoming a 3rd world Tin pot dictatorship with no regard for the rest of the world.

it’s Rome in decline, we need to build a new Byzantium.

They are going to get bitten on the bum big style with that as the Africans won't be able to pay the money back and will just nationalise the strategic assets without compensation Zimbabwe farm style.
The Chinese won’t play nicely though.

Kicking them out will most likely result in a coup, with some handsomely-paid Chinese puppets taking over. Military push-back? The world’s second-largest amphibious force might well get a taste of action.

Er, They might have a bit of a problem deploying that in Zimbabwe, but it would be interesting to see how they would fare in colonial actions in Africa. It would be a new one as they don't have any prior experience. I wonder how the Organisation for African Unity will react. They are all too ready to shout and scream if they suspect whitey of any neo colonialism. Probably buy off the leaders with massive bribes I expect.

Yes, I was suggesting amphib in general rather than for Zim in particular. But amphibious capabilities also speak towards an expeditionary warfare intent in general.

Yup, or just ignore them.

Surely that is for threatening Taiwan and for going head to head with other Asian nations over things like disputed islands and sabre rattling with the likes of the Republic of Korea, Japan, and Malaysia.

Any sort of overt invasion of an African state would be a disaster in terms of reputation. It would be more subtle such as a sympathetic leader asking for Beijing to send advisors.

they own Ethiopia and Zimbabwe, and are de facto overlords in a number of others,

I doubt they would start a war in Africa but if they did I doubt they would give a shit about what a few countries think of them, as the majority won't care.

It would be very interesting to see, especially in somewhere like Zim as you have to cross other countries to get to it. We know how much fun that can be.
Smashing up Taiwan is one thing as logistically it's on their doorstep.
Expeditionary warfare with a long Log chain is not something they much experience with or maybe even practise.
Also once they crush the opposing Army and it devolves into COIN with IED ambushes and all that sh1t, it will be interesting to see how the PLA does business.

As we know from bitter experience, twice, going from high Intensity warfighting to COIN is a costly and painful business.
I also think even if it went really badly; they would be unlikely to throw in the towel and lose face on the world stage, especially if its their first major outing.

That is totalitarianism, something communist states may do, but it doesnt make it communist.

Plenty of Arab countries do similar. Or any country with a dictator.
You are right, as there as never been a communist state, it's a dictatorial state
run by committee

Big difference between invading, and sending a force to “help out the legitimate government against the rebels”.

The West does the latter all the time in Africa, the Chinese just need to spin it a bit.

If you want something to be worried about, look into the ports, east-west / north-south Road, rail and electricity links the Chinese are funding and/or building across Africa.
