Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

    Saw this article and thought the difference between the way we do things and the way they are done over the water is striking.

    Army Leaders Sign Covenant with Families

    To summarise the article, senior members of the military sign a document at each army installation that recognises the importance of families and commits cash and other resources for;

    * Standardizing and funding existing Family programs and services
    * Increasing accessibility and quality of healthcare
    * Improving Soldier and Family housing
    * Ensuring excellence in schools, youth services, and child care
    * Expanding education and employment opportunities for Family members

    Of course I don't know whether or not this will directly translate into anything but a flag waiving display of hot air but it looks like a very good initiative and one that is lacking from the MoD
