Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Right guys and gals and whatever else comes on here?

sometime last year there was a thread on the above girl biker, She rides to chernobyl etc etc, but it was found to be a hoax?? does anyone have a link to it or know where i can find the write up that outs it as a hoax??

    Many thanks
  2. msr

    msr LE

  3. I thought the site was really interesting, and what's the point of hoaxing a site where you make a tour through the 'dead' area??

Don't have a link, but would like to know what's going on.
  4. Just do a google search for Chernobyl + hoax + Motorbike.
Or read "Elena" 's version here

Or wait till she possibly answers? I think she was on here once or twice last year, as she is a fairly prolific Military Archaeology buff and does a lot of work on ethical recovery and research too.

    Possibly KGB_R can comment?

As an aside, KGB , there are some youth organisations in Russia concerned with Military Archaeology , there is a generic term for them, but I've lost the reference , can you remember what the organisations are called?

  5. There are plenty of such groups (I mean youth military archeologists). For example

'ISKATEL' (SEARCHER) is probably most known organisation of this sort.

As to Chernobyl then the story is too well known. My father (then KGB colonel) spent few weeks in the area to establish security. He had own R-ray dose. Yes, my father told me many things but they are I suppose uninteresting. Villages and cities without even one inhabitant are very impessive if you see it by own eyes.

Btw, my cousin now works on Chernobyl station. He lives in city of Slavutich.
  6. As far as I understand it it's a mixture of truth and fiction.
The fiction is that she was alone on a motorcycle, a calculated fiction to make the story more intriguing, which worked.

I tumbled that something was amiss when I read some of her other work, published later in which she rides a rather more modest bike and notes that were money no object she'd have a Kwak Ninja. The Cherobyl tale has her on the Ninja.
  7. I think the Ninja was her ex-hubbys'
  8. Aye... There are also some insinuations that she's doing a bit of "Ginger Spice" when it comes to discussing her age and that a lot of the pics of her aren't shall we say....recent.
  9. Well , she tells a cracking yarn , and I do like the Serpent's wall site. Anyway , aren't the photos of her on the UKrainian election site the most recent, after all, they were only taken last year!
