The Caligulan court of Silvio Berlusconi

Given that most of our politicians would step down sharpish at the faintest sniff of impropriety, what does Berlusconi have to do to piss the Italians off?
Given that most of our politicians have welded themselves firmly to the sphincter of power and won't resign unless repeatedly stabbed (and even then are resurrected within a year or so) ...

Berlusconni must have something on most ot the Italian parliment for him to stay in power. Probably find most are being blackmailed by him after attending one of his "parties".

Who in Italy could possibly object to the shagging starlets etc on a serial basis?

However, being shown up as a vain old fool being exploited for money by rapacious hangers on and chancers is a very, very different matter indeed.

Just another Eyetalian Stallion; there's not one of you here who wouldn't have shagged that bird if they had the chance. You're all jealous that a 74 year old bloke has all that fun!

While a substantial section of the better educated academic classes cringe at every tabloid revelation, an equally large section of (predominantly male) society think good luck to him and wish they had the opportunity. The bit in the middle that swings it is the fact he does understand Italian businesses, is clearly a patriot, has a lot of friends, and no other political grouping seems to offer anything better.
The Italians also expect their political class to be a bit crooked and dodgy and so very low expectations can be met.

'Given that most of our politicians would step down sharpish at the faintest sniff of impropriety'

...er...when??
My thoughts exactly, most of the criminally inept & bent shites are desperate to keep their snouts in the trough! Mind you the late, unlamented Minister for "kulcha was involved in a Bribery scandal years ago with the slippery git Berlusconi "http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article5555890.ece

But I doubt he fancied shagging her, the raddled old cow!

Well - something must have struck home as B is apparently heavily stressed out now, according to the BBC (if you believe them!). Even the Pope has commented ..............!

Rather the devil you know... At least with SB you know his addiction and his corruptive nature. He's rather transparent plus he has his fingers in so many places that any confidence vote can easily be overcome...

The girls don't seem to be complaining too much .......
Got to admire his lothario approach to life and the seemingly effortless way he can seduce the Italian voters.

Can you imagine there being a similar "court" as described in the Telegraph here in the UK. A "bunga bunga (room)" deep in the heart of No.10? Which politician could fill the role of Casanova I wonder?

Yep, I would not be in a rush to step down if I were him. In fact I think I would be looking for an advertising deal to promote olive oil and another to promote the Italian sunshine etc. If I could fit it all in.
