The Brexit Consequences Thread

More like create a Franco German empire. But run by Eurocrats with a supine but over eager Parliament to endorse their actions. Oh and an army would be nice.

And tax raising power to fund the ever bloating budget. Lo and behold:

The Franco German empire as you put it was the Germany it occupied thanks to the Brits and the Americans. Some may say tough, spoils of war-fair do's however there can be no equal partnership of a country under subjugation. It has a habit of biting people on the bum

A Brexit deal with Germany is another 'covert' Munich Agreement'
Coherced through 'fear' of invasion..by Farages Army of 'stateless people'.

There will 'NEVER' be a time when Russia..hands over East Prussia, Silesia, Pomerania, Sudetenland or Yransylvania and walks away. Never..ever...for eternity.

Winston Churchill:- From what I have seen of our Russian friends and Allies during the war, I am convinced that there is nothing they admire so much as strength, and there is nothing for which they have less respect than weakness, especially military weakness.” —FULTON, MISSOURI, 5 MARCH 1946

Except that (apart from the Kaliningrad Oblast) East Prussia is now in the territory of NATO members Poland and Lithuania, Silesia is in Poland, Pomerania is in Poland and the reunified NATO member Germany, the Sudentenland is in NATO member the Czech Republic, and Transylvania is in NATO members Hungary and Romania. All of which were 'handed back' without a significant violence other than in Lithuania, although a final casualty toll of less than 1000 ,m with only 14 killed, could be considered relatively minor.

Which was on of the reasons we joined, to keep it all nicely fragmented.

Although its the Gruinard, a reasonable piece on the criminally-irresponsible architect of the UK's current travails, before descending into a 'class war' commentary.

'Cameron’s memoirs were meant to be published this month but have been delayed until next year. The early signs are ominous. A book has to be coherent if it is to find a readership: its opening must prefigure its conclusion. As described in the publishing press, Cameron’s effort will have no consistency. He will tell the story of the formation of the coalition, his contributions to economic, welfare and foreign policy, his surprise victory in the 2015 election and then – as if from nowhere – the conventional memoir will end with the author carelessly deciding he will settle the European question, without planning a campaign or preparing an argument and, instead, launching a crisis that will last for decades. Nothing will make sense. Nothing will hang together. It’s as if a romcom were to conclude with serial killers murdering the cooing lovers or Hilary Mantel were to have aliens invade Tudor England on the last page of her Thomas Cromwell trilogy.'

I do see an opening for an episode of Dr Who in your post.

Someone fixed Brexit date for Britain to leave the EU on.....
March the 29th.
Adolf Hitler 'began' his Plan to 'reverse Germanies expansion of Europe plans....on...March the 29th......
The reoccupation of the rhineland by German troops on March the 29th 1936, twenty years ago, and the French failure to take any positive action against this step, seem in the light of subsequent history to mark the turning-point in Hitler’s drive to reverse the defeat suffered by German expansionist ambitions in 1918. It was also the turning-point in the French effort to prevent German resurgence.

He makes a point but again inevitable descent into lefty rant that adds nothing.

There may another reason the book is a bit behind. Sitting in a shed? Methinks not.
