Conde Rice mentioned the other day that US had made very many mistakes in Iraq. A hell of a lot of them are detailed in this book. Again and again there are accounts of incidents verging on disaster that were only recovered by the inbalance of power and individual acts of bravery. It also covers the planning which is an object lesson in how not to organise a piss up in a brewery still less a war. However, as a Brit who has no experience of Iraq, I cannot draw any conclusion as to where this book stands - history or just a good read? Anyone better placed than me to give a review?
