New Labour also created a superb political attack machine, so darned good in fact that they struggled to switch it off. So much so that in the early days some senior figures, such as John Prescott, were actually on record bad-mouthing "the Government", forgetting they were now the Government!
A significant difference was that New Labour moved socialist politics firmly to the right, which proved to be very popular (although it is arguable whether we British are truly capable of German style caring capitalism, which I think was New Labour's strategic aim). To this day, I don't know how Labour managed to royally screw their powerfully representative position and lurch back to the hard left, leaving millions of their new voters effectively disenfranchised!
But back on thread, the Dems problem is that I suspect they are galloping hard in the wrong direction for the mainstream US voter, as opposed to the US elite....
Biden is starting to unite people in ways unheard out here, in opposition to his administration. He is going after the wrong sacred cows.
