Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. this is a counterpoint to "the ugliest town in the UK" thread
post which town you think is the best and why ? ie people, pubs, local talents etc

  3. Edinburgh and York! With the provisos of excluding Niddrie and Tang Hall respectively! Both beautiful cities, got everything you could want without being too big, great pubs, great food and great people! Again, ignoring the occasional few neds/chavs that infiltrate, but they get everywhere these days!
  4. Newcastle upon Tyne - no doubt about it!
  5. Oldham. 90p a pint.
  6. Oxford or Salisbury, the only problem with these "Cities" is the population of students.
  7. Plymouth, without a shadow of doubt, fit birds, cracking night out, sea, dartmoor. Just a shame the locals are all thick.
  8. No contest surely, its got to be London!

"When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London, all that life can afford."
  9. Yep definatly Newcastle.
  10. It has to be Edinburgh:
    * Great pubs, restaurants and clubs.
    * Lots of festivals i.e. the Fringe.
    * Surprisingly good weather - for Scotland.
    * Hogmany.
    * No one picks on you if you look like Begbie!
  11. Hastings, you can't beat whelks and candy floss.

Closely followed by Newcastle. Love that city !!!
  12. I was only joking about Redcar by the way.
  13. London is a shithole that I can only cope with in small doses (ie. Overnight for one night only, get pissed, get out).

Best town? Got to be York. So many pubs, clubs and restaurants, you really are spoilt for choice. [IMG]
