The best town in the UK

#1
this is a counterpoint to "the ugliest town in the UK" thread
post which town you think is the best and why ? ie people, pubs, local talents etc

Edinburgh and York! With the provisos of excluding Niddrie and Tang Hall respectively! Both beautiful cities, got everything you could want without being too big, great pubs, great food and great people! Again, ignoring the occasional few neds/chavs that infiltrate, but they get everywhere these days!

It has to be Edinburgh:
* Great pubs, restaurants and clubs.
* Lots of festivals i.e. the Fringe.
* Surprisingly good weather - for Scotland.
* Hogmany.
* No one picks on you if you look like Begbie!

London is a shithole that I can only cope with in small doses (ie. Overnight for one night only, get pissed, get out).

Best town? Got to be York. So many pubs, clubs and restaurants, you really are spoilt for choice.

Singapore can't be beat, but you need wodges of cash. I used to love Salisbury, but it's probably changed out of recognition now, like Ashford.
Cockermouth/Penrith. Excellent.

You're right Whiskybreath, Salisbury has changed.
They call it Harare now and comparitively it's a dump.
Amazing what something so simple as a change of name can do, eh ?

:wink:
