‘Hearts of Oak’ has a very touching account of the sinking of Atlantic Conveyor, ‘Death of a Merchantman’, by then-Capt Mike Layard, who was the SNO on board.Sandy Woodward mentions Ian North survived 2 sinkings during WW2 - and I'm sure that's not the only time it's been mentioned. Google search hasn't revealed anything yet....
In his account, he mentions that Captain Ian North had been sunk twice during WW2, “and knew what to expect. He conducted himself with enormous calm and dignity in the most frightening situations and steadied us all.”
