  1. Just finished reading John Lewis-Stempel's The Autobiography of the British Soldier, from Agincourt to Basra, in his own words.

    Covers all your favourite battles: Agincourt, Rourkes Drift, Waterloo, Charge of the Light Brigade, the Somme and right into Modern day Basra.

    Heartily recommended, a bit heavy going at the start, but gets easier once you get past the English Civil war.
