Interesting stuff... one aspect of the conquistador's operations that hasn't recieved much study is the fact that they apparently made quite a few allies amongst the Inca's enemies.
Funny how modern historians look upon the Spanish as being brutes during those days but to be honest, a modern moral compass is the worst tool to navigate other eras. To the Spaniards, who were born and raised devout Catholics, a nation like the Inca must have appeared to be the Devil's own society.
As much as I hate to praise the man Mel Gibsons Apocalypto is probably a much more accurate description of the preconquest Americas than the usual 1960's generation of Historians opinion.
It certainly got down several things right. The fight scenes were pretty cringe inducing as it was almost entirely done with blunt weapons
