The American Rap "singer" R. Kelly, known for his hit, "I Believe I Can Fly", has been convicted of sex trafficking.

"R. Kelly, the R&B superstar who has long been trailed by accusations of sexual misconduct and abuse, was found guilty in New York on Monday on all counts in a high-profile sex-trafficking case, capping a trial that featured hours of graphic testimony from the singer’s accusers."

His comeuppance finally occurred in a Federal court in the New York borough of Brooklyn today (Monday), as he was found guilty of eight counts of violation of the Mann Act, which makes the transportation across state lines of a person for immoral purposes a Federal offence. He was also done for racketeering. Kelly got off of a slam-dunk child pornography/child sex prosecution over a decade ago, and many are seeing this case as fixing a wrong.

“Today’s guilty verdict forever brands R. Kelly as a predator, who used his fame and fortune to prey on the young, the vulnerable, and the voiceless for his own sexual gratification,” Acting U.S. Attorney Kasulis said in a statement."

If things go as expected, Mr Kelly can no look forward to seeing sunshine except through stripey windows for the next few decades at least. And given that he's also being brought to trial in Illinois and Minnesota for charges of obstruction, child pornography, and sex abuse, he may never see non-stripey sunshine for the rest of his days, given that he's 54 at the moment.

More details here:

Cue outraged Scousers when they hear R Kelly has been found guilty

The next question is what will his prison life be like, will he treated like other predators and be consuming cockmeat sandwhiches as the main part of his diet, or will the brothers see him as gaining more street cred as another wrongfully convicted black man, like say Bill Cosby....

You may joke, but that's how Kelly got off the last time. Pulling both the Race Card and the "Do You Know Who I Am" card. Like Michael Jackson, if he'd been Robert Kelly the New York bus driver, he'd have been in jail already.

I had never heard of him until he went on trial. and still know nothing about his alleged "music".

The papers and news outlets here in the US are perhaps less reticent about describing what this sick bastard did to girls in their teens, some in their early teens. All I can say here is complete total depravity running amuck.
I do hope he is in general population in whatever prison he goes to as people like him do not fare well with the more ordinary robbers and burglary, at least in prisons here in the US. I do hope he gets a cellmate whose little sister was raped and treats him as he deserves.

Shame he wasn't up for the death penalty.

The his last words could be 'I believe I can fry'

*coat*

Is he chasing the credentials to run for president of a workers' free democratic paradise somewhere in Africa?

So, you have an empty wasteland of fucks that you don't give which would infer that you are not showing the lush fields of fucks that you DO give. This would imply that you are a massive R Kelly fan and, probably, a closet nonce.

Back a few years ago, local saffer radio station was in the news for refusing to play "I believe I can fly" as a request, despite it being a huge favourite in their listenership.
The programme director was blunt: "We pay royalties - why should we make this man richer than he is?"

He had already been punished to the limit by being identified as the author of "I Believe I Can Fly" rather than "Remix from Ignition"

I bloody hate that Orville song

Your logic is as flawed as your desperation for a kindred soul.

I can't help you with either.
