They did the same with the Tiger at Bovvy. Its the subject of an excellent Haynes manual. The paint research done was brilliant. Ppl harping on about whats 'correct' & whats not when some poor bugger decides to post a pic of their finished panzer is ruining parts of the model community.
I know what you mean. We all have different eyesight and colour perception and if we're happy with the result then that's fine.

Reminds me of an incident years ago when we had a rake of Bedford TK's (CL) to send back to Hilton and they were in rag order. So we lined them up, slackened off the canopies, greased the glass, and I got a dustbin and filled it all the green paint we had, BDG, Textured Green, Nato Green, Brunswick Gloss, the lot, stirred it up and we spayed over the crap, crud and rust. Sprayed the lot in a morning. Looked ace - except wrong shade - as you'd expect. Anyway, cleaned the glass off, blacked the tyres fastened the canopies and all got a clean bill of health when we delivered them.

@LARD Sounds like me painting one of our Sultans: Green and black applied in a cammo scheme (with the usual stumpy, lumpy brushes) of my own devising. It looked about right but I only found out much later that there is an MOD set of proportions of black to green.

Mine was better:cool:

I know just what you mean @Chef. When we got our MK's in lieu of the TK's they were all DBG and looked ace. Then some bright spark told us to paint them Nato Green and Black. To be fair they look pretty good - all had matching pattern on them. Still remember the VRN of mine 00FH05, which I think was one of the first MK's ( I hasten to add that it was not new - we're talking late 70's and I think it was DIS in 1970). Went like the clappers....

When the gang visited The Weald Foundation a few weeks ago, they explained the lengths they go to get correct paint shades. They have original chips analysed by a company in Lincoln, who can, in effect, turn the clock back to when he paint was new and had not been degraded by the passage of time etc. They have a Zundapp Combo there with the bike fully restored to 'as new from the factory', but have not done the chair. The colour differences are massive!

Sorry @ches I must be a fanny
That would be this one :)

In the doldrums with my Para, between, weather, work and socialising. Hope to get at it this W/E.

Slow progress on this! Truck done bar decals and weathering. Still can't decide weather or not to go for a camo scheme.

With and without the tilt:

Diorama coming along. Just playing with some different layouts; then it's full steam ahead. Anyway, some photos for your perusal. Please note, it is not finished.

That, is a ******* good question! It looks like a cow's head. The question is, why? Diorama coming on a treat though.

That is coming along really well, really like the greenery. Just one question, tyre/track marks are they still to be added?

Yes, although I now have a gravelled road - there is still room for track/tyre marks. I spent this evening installing telegraph wires, which involved a lot of bad language and a few drill-holes in my thumb, leading to more bad language.

It is a cow's head attached to a cow bell. It's there to piss off the dog. Every time it jumps up at the gate, it nuts the bell causing it to ring. The dog hates the bell and does one toot sweet!

Too hot to work outside so spent the day looking for a way to make 8RS and 119 LAA Regt RA arm badges.
Royal Scots is their tartan over a single red horizontal stripe (senior regiment) over 15 Inf Div sign.
119 LAA Regt RA is the blue on red RA "mudguard" above red & blue AOS strip over 15 Inf Div sign. They also wore a white Kent "Invicta" in a black diamond as the regiment were formed from 10 (Queen's Own) Royal West Kent Regt.

So, after a while on the laptop, I came up with these:
D-Day Build Decals.png

The two larger diamonds are for the QLB, to be placed above the Royal Artillery AOS front and back.
These were printed using an inkjet printer onto Decal paper ordered from bigbitestudio.co.uk. They recommend using Rustoleum's Crystal Clear to seal the decals. They do not recommend using laser printers for this. Below are the finished results, not bad if I say so myself:

I've had good results with the plastic Woodland Scenics tree armatures. I've done some with their 'foliage clusters' and some with their 'foliage' (which is rather like a miniature camo net). I had some false starts from using rubbish glue, but I've now used Bison Contact Adhesive, which works like a dream as it's VERY tacky and the foliage immediately sticks to it and stays stuck.

I'll try to post some photos up later.
By the way @Signalman I bought a bag of the trees as recommended by yourself, you'll probably notice them in bare-arsed form on the dio of mine, so thanks for that heads up mate.

The homemade decals are given a light coat of water-based decal-fix by Vallejo. If you use this, don't worry that it goes on milky, it dries clear.

Brilliant! You've done a cracking job with them. I'm now up to 130 trees and got foliating the smaller ones (like yours) down to about two minutes apiece! :) Only another 200 or so to go... :(

I love the QLB. I wish someone did one in 1/100th. I've used Morris CDSW tractors for my Bofors battery, but I do like the look of the QL series.
