Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Does anyone else have a piece of music that makes the hair on the nape of your neck stand up?

Weather it fills you with pride or joy etc... What is it?
  2. Samuel Barber's "Adagio" - whats yours?

  3. "Sanctus Fortis" from Elgar's Dream of Gerontius

"Go Forth Upon Thy Journey, Christian Soul" and "Praise to the Holiest" from the same work.

In fact pretty much all of Gerontius gives me goosebumps.
  4. Hymn to the Fallen: Saving Private Ryan by John Williams.
  5. Highland Cathedral gets the hairs up, But I also get it from The Fray "How to save a life" first heard it on Scrubs, Cox (John C McGinley) is trying to save a patient and lashes out at the end.

    Edit to Add,

Some music makes a film what it is, would Platoon be as iconic without the Adagio playing?

  9. That's it, PA. Let the music speak for you!!
  10. Handel's Coronation Anthem No 1 - Zadok The Priest. It'd be wonderful if it were performed at the next coronation in our country, be it for Charles or William (both, possibly?).
