Thanks a lot you thieving cnuts!

This is to the thieving b*stards who robbed the ISO containers containing our comfort boxes awaiting return from Afghanistan.
Eleven ISO's broken in to, entire personal boxes stolen, others had the clasps hacksawed off and had been rifled with all "gucci" kit taken.

If you were locals, then I hope you die in an air strike. If you were squaddies or booties then be aware that if an angry paratrooper suddenly approaches you in the near future and breaks your nose, it's because you're wearing my windproof and meindl boots or watching my DVD's. You bunch of c*unts.

Welcome to the wonderful world of unit roulements.

In every tour I have ever been on kit consigned to the mil freight system has been robbed, ISOs broken open, vehicles stripped etc. Of course the RMPs say that they are "checking for contraband" when they cut open the containers, the Movers say that they are too stretched ("can't be bothered") to make any arrangements for stuff to be guarded on docksides etc. etc etc And so year in year out kit is written off, QMs make up their losses, and thieving chavs get their beer tokens. Where do you think most of this stuff on EBay comes from?

Yet again the contract of trust has been broken!

This really disappointing (an understatement if ever there was one!), however a question:

Who's insurance would personal equipment have to be claimed against?

If it's the MOD's Insurance then I'll bet it is only minimal and probably won't cover everyone's "Gucci" kit. If it's the individual's Insurance they will then have the pleasure of paying heightened premiums! Surely?

Don't really like Meindl boots - get Danners from stores anyhow....

There's a point to be made here.

If you left kit in an ISO container where you were (presumably) told to leave it, should you be liable for the losses if that kit is stolen? I doubt it.

Instead, if you have time, you might want to ask who required you to leave the ISO containers there? Unless there was an express disclaimer of risk - which ought to have been communicated to you prior to you being required to leave the containers - it strikes me that this is a claim against the MOD for any loss you have suffered as a result of the MOD's failure to take reasonably adequate precautions.

Do you have kit insurance? Do you know exactly what was in the ISO container?

If you don't want to make waves by complaining about the lack of security, you might point out the failure of the MOD when making your insurance claim. Insurance companies might well be interested in recovering from the MOD some of the cash they have to pay you (a subrogated claim). The consequence might well be that someone makes sure the ISO containers are put somewhere secure in the future.

It's not just Afghanistan that has this problem. I had a box toppers with kit and gizzits go missing somewhere in the supply chain between Basra and the UK. But luckily enough, I had kit insurance and they paid out (well, they had no fecking choice really). NAAFI tried to wriggle out of it by claiming the excess charge was TREBLE what it usually was due to 'the military supply chain'. WTF??? It was only when I threatened to take them to court that they backed down.

Like the Matelot says not just happening in Afganistan,

Posted back from BFG late 90's and when got the MFO boxes at the other end found they had been opened and porn mags etc removed..small beer in the lieu of Bagder_heed's loss but you expect an element of trust when your stuffs in transit and not to be robbed by your own "side"

Where were the ISOs Badger? In Kandahar? Or in UK?

Pretty self explanatory I think...

It's going to happen, especially if you do put Gucci kit in your ISOs. MOD will not cover the losof anything Gucci - what sort of stuff was it anyway that you had on your op Tour!?

The ISO's were Op Plundered, sealed and left in Camp Bastion end of Sep 06. Apparently they stayed where they were for a couple of months, then went to Kandahar and then to the port in Karachi, Pakistan.
Looking into the items that were nicked the finger is pointing at squaddies. Items like 9x9's, 12x12's and some generators were left while entire comfort boxes were nicked and others had all the privately bought military eqpt and the guccier issue kit taken.
Every single box in one particular ISO had been rifled through and in another 13 gorilla boxes (big black plastic transit boxes bought from PX) had been taken complete.

I take it you had loads of time to kill hence the DVD's and liked to walt it up in the cookhouse with gucci kit. What are you, a storeman?
Nice bit of stereotyping there bellend. We took home comforts because the camp at Bastion hadn't been built when we got there. In some cases, the blokes never even took their boxes out of ISO's for the duration of the Op as they were straight out on ground or in the COP's.
