    An alleged captured al-Qaeda operative, Sharif al-Masri, along with other unnamed al-Qaeda personnel, has disclosed that the organization is considering plans to transport nuclear materials and toxic chemicals across the Mexican border into the United States.

    It is reported that Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge recently made a "lightning visit" to Mexico to confer with his counterparts. Mexican security officials will adopt an attitude of increased vigilance as to Mexican flight schools and airports.

    Also, two weeks ago, three men "from Southern Mexico" stole a crop-dusting airplane from an airport south of San Diego and flew away in a southerly direction.
