Telic Medal-Ministerial Response

#1
I recently wrote to my MP regarding the farce that is the issuing of Telic Medals. My main complaint being that I found it a bit unjust that guys returning from later telics were getting theirs before those on earlier telics (namely 1 &2). he processed this request the same day and i havve now recieved my reply. It Reads:
Dear...............,
Thank you for your letter of 25th January to John Reid, about the issuing of the Iraq Medal. I am replying as this matter falls within my area of resposibility.

as at 27 January 2006 of over 90000 applications recieved for the Iraq Medalthere was a backlog of 3,223 applications awaiting assessment, and 10,120 awaiting engraving, cleaning, packaging and despatching. Additional resources are beingrecruited into the Ministry of Defence Medal Office to clear this backlog and it is anticipated that the engraving backlog will be closed by the end of March. The current average waiting time is three months, although Op Telic 1 applications are processed in a significantly shorter period. Applications are delt with in a strict date order, and personnel who served on later operations do not get preferential treatment in the issuing of medals.

Unfortunately, as you did not provide the personal details of your constituent in your letter, I cannot give the details of any application he/she may have submitted. If you would like your constituents' case to be investigated further, I would need their name, rank, service number and unit.
I hope this explains the position and addresses your constituents's specific concerns.

Yours
.....................................
Have emailed my MP with service details in the hope that he might find out what the fcuk they are playing at! Having seen that other people have got in trouble for this. (see accidentalscaley post)http://www.arrse.co.uk/cpgn2/Forums/viewtopic/t=25437/postdays=0/postorder=asc/start=45.html I decided to sacrefice myself as i'm in the TA and if the Co don't like it and wants to punish me I just won't sign on til its forgotten!

Any thoughts?
