The Daily Telegraph has got its hands on some internal documents about how Gordon Brown, Ed Ballls and Ed Milliband plotted to oust Blair. The story is here:

Labour coup: secret letters reveal how Ed Balls plotted to overthrow Tony Blair - Telegraph

The newspaper has also put up scans of a range of documents and memos that the plotters wrote. They are truly entertaining reading.

In one of them Gordon Brown's weaknesses are listed as being perceived as humourless, dour, moody, aggressive and unapproachable. Really?

In another we can see the the spin developing:

ABOLITION OF POVERTY MUST BE PART OF REASSERTION OF IMPORTANCE OF
EDCUATIONAL OPPORTUNTIY AND FAIR OUTCOMES
DENMARK HAS 3 PER CNET CHILD POVERTY.
SWEDEN 5 PER CENT
FRANCE XXX PER CENT
BUT BRITAIN STILL YY PER CENT

So child poverty is a problem because we've got YY% of it. Nice to know they've identified the problem before they know the figures. And I do love the way they can identify the EDCUATIONAL OPPORTUNTIY. If the people then in change of our country can't spell, that might just explain why our kids leave school unable to do so either.

Should start a good civil was within Labour. Grab a bag of popcorn, pull up a seat and enjoy...

God, its hilarious - this is how Project Volvo decided to re-brand Brown to make him loved in the country at large:

Addressing 3D shortfall
Demonstrate wider interests
- Family, leisure, lifestyle
Promote background and how this has shaped political beliefs
- State schools, family background, long-standing friends, personal triumph over adversity
Reveal passion and compassion
- Africa moments in the UK
Show humour, character, charm
- More Richard and Judy opportunities; use Richard and Judy mode at all times
Avoid situations that brand in a negative way
- PMQs etc.,

"Show humour, character, charm" - oh please....

What I am trying to work out is how anyone can read this as anything other than

1. Labour was completely f***** up at the top for a long time. Not new news.....
2. Ed Balls is not to be trusted in any capacity.

Any word on how they got their hands on these docs?

Brilliant idea. Make Gordon into a "Volvo":-

Solid
Dependable
Designed with crashes in mind
Does 0-60 shortly before the warranty expires, even with foot on the floor
Leaks fluids uncontrollably when under stress
Sometimes locks you in so you can't escape if there's a crash
You can only afford to run one if you can print money

Stodgy, uninspired image

You can only afford to run one if you can print money
Fixed that...

I hate ****ing Brown (oo-er! I mean the Scottish one!).

And Id like to see Balls licked! (there is no way to include his name without some kind of smuttly spherical reference)

Seriously these self promoting lawyer/University type professional politicians are hardly best placed to represent the working class. Labour is dead I hope, but just to be sure...........

"Seriously these self promoting lawyer/University type professional politicians are hardly best placed to represent the working class. Labour is dead I hope, but just to be sure."

Where I come from in UK was an old Coal & Cotton town, voted Labour ever since their was a Labour Party.
The Old Party which was for the Worker is dead and long gone.
The locals haven't learned. Never will.
Oxford now rules Labour and the Champagne Socialist is just another Management Creature exploting what was once the Working Class.

Spot on John. Not that I can see myself ever voting for the Toffs in disguise of Labour. I want an Eton educated Toff at the top! At least DC is what he is.

Next tranche of leaked papers in the Telegraph, and these are distinctly less amusing. This is a document from the Treasury to Ed Balls in 2007.

<p id="document-title-html"> </p></div>

In it the Treasury clearly say that cnut Brown is wasting money - and he ignores then and goes on wasting it. Headline quote:

Public sector productivity needs to start improving more rapidly: "we've spent all this money, but what have we got for it?"
Examples of waste the treasury identified:

Some examples of savings we have found

- Registering for child benefit requires the completion of 55 questions spread across a 15 page form to claim for a child born in an NHS hospital and whose birth has already been registered.

- Only 20% of Jobcentre Plus staff work in contact with the customer. lt costs 50% more to take a Jobseeker's Allowance claim inthe South East than in the South West.

- There are more than 1300 organisations in the public sector responsible for HR and finance services.

- DWP are taking the 'opportunity' to centralise delivery of pensioner benefits from 28 Pension Centres to around 20 - rather than 1.

- The cost of fire control rooms handling a fire incident differs widely between fire authorities, from £18 and £168 per incident.

- DWP pays 97% of its benefit claimants electronically, direct to their bank accounts. Saves £1bn over 5 years. But National Savings posts over 1m cheques every month to its customers, despite the fact that its customers are more likely to have bank accounts.

- DCMS spends ?43m on its 11 websites, one of which attracted just 77 visitors in 2004-05.
So instead of saving money, they just went on pissing it away. Yet they knew efficiency savings could be made.

HMRC process re-engineering pilots driven by new leadership produce efficiency gains - of 60% to 80% in tax return processing - and a better service for the customer.

and...

Worst performing NHS Trust performance require up to a 32% increase in performance to bring them up to the current median performance.
What a bunch of cretinous incompetents. That's our money those cnuts have been wasting.
