(So it must be true)

Task Force (TF) 11 was a United States Navy task force in World War II.

TF 11 was originally formed around Lexington (CV-2), then Saratoga (CV-3) until she was disabled by a Japanese torpedo in January 1942, then Lexington again for the Battle of the Coral Sea, then Saratoga after her repairs were completed.

TF 11, as part of TF 61 along with TF 16, was involved in the Battle of the Eastern Solomons in late August 1942, but Saratoga was again crippled by a submarine, and the task force shrank to just the carrier and some destroyers.

In September 1943, TF 11 was reorganized around light carriers Princeton (CVL-23) and Belleau Wood (CVL-24) under Rear Admiral Willis Augustus Lee, and supported landings on Baker Island and Howland Island.

In early 1944, its task groups TG 11.1 and 11.2, now consisting of escort aircraft carriers, supported operations in the Marshall Islands.

Task Force (TF) 11 was also the name of a joint Navy SEAL DEVGRU-US Army Delta Force team which has been operating under the US Joint Special Operations Command in Afghanistan searching for senior Taliban and Al-Qaeda leaders. The same units have formed a Task Force searching for high value targets in Iraq, which at various times has had designations including TF 145 and TF 626.
According to the MOD site one of the Yorks Bn's are joinging Taskforce 11 based in Aldershot.

Copied from 2 YORKS website:

The main effort is firmly the operation HERRICK 7 tour. This is due to end in Spring 2008 with the various force elements supplied by 2 YORKS returning during the period March/April. A period of in camp decompression will follow with Post Operational Leave (POTL) being complete by early June. Following the return to normal duties, the Bn is planning a number of Freedom Parades in Yorkshire. Longer term the Bn will switch from 52 Brigade based in Edinburgh, to Task Force 11 based in Aldershot. The switch will take place in June 2008.

Like 6 Div, one of the extra HQs that we need to fulfil current commitments. Like 6 Div TF11 might (or might not) end up as a permanent proper Bde.

A TF is to a Bde what a BG is to a Regt/Bn or CT to a Sqn/Coy. It's perhaps unfortunate that some body has chosen a number - 11 - that already belongs to a high profile US SF TF.

Makes more sense, after all an ad-hoc formation based on a 1* HQ is already a Bde, why give it the TF title.

11 Light Brigade from the:
MOD Website

And this-
A New Brigade in Aldershot

A new Brigade has been formed for the next few years for deployment to Afghanistan and is called 11 Light Brigade.

The Brigades Commander Brigadier James Cowan joined Garrison FM's Richard Wyeth at Breakfast to explain all about.

11 Light Brigade has been formed as the Army needs a tenth Brigade to cover Iraq & Afghanistan deployments, (5 for each country) and is made up of existing units within the British Army with the HQ in Aldershot Garrison.

The units that are forming 11 Light Brigade are 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, The Household Cavalry, 3rd Battalion Rifles, 1st Battalion Royal Welsh, 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, 1 Royal Horse Artillery, 28 Engineer Regiment and 10 Queens Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment.

After deployment 11 Light Brigade will disband in June 2010.

Pure magic, the army is getting smaller and the formations are growing in inverse proportion.
