More slow progress, mainly on the rear end with tools
and track grousers, the rear lights lens show a milky colour, this is Micro Kristal Klear for the blackout lens. I have the straps and buckles to paint up
yet . I also noticed that I forgot the crow bar

Tiny update time.

So a bit more done tonight, more painting on the running gear. Just waiting now to get the lower hull in a satin coat on ready for decals and weathering up.

I coated the hull in some places with some Tamiya gun metal lacquer paints, mainly around the high traffic areas. Added some chipping fluid and then the top layers of OD.
Just had a chipping up session to see how it turned out.

Cheers chaps,

Glossed and decals added, completely screwed up the front Reg Number though
:frantic:
Oh well, I'll see if i can cobble together
one from other sheets that I have. Once this stage is dry then another blast of gloss and then its's onto weather up the hull.

nice subtle wear and tear paint effects, don't cover it all up with too heavy a weathering session, coming on real nice.

Cheers All,
just been laying down a brown wash on the horizontal surfaces, the details are really starting to pop now which is good, I’m going to try for a restrained look with the overall weathering with this build but I’m also trying a few new techniques so it’s going to be a bit of an organic process. Pictures tomorrow chaps

With a bit of a brown wash done.
Some subtle shadows around the turret ring and the drivers hatches, the rear deck louvres have just started to pop now.
Mig Ammo brown wash for dark yellow German vehicles used with mineral thinners.
Chuffed that the kit supplied decals have settled down well with no slivering.

Cheers for all the likes and great feedback, really appreciated

More weathering just building in the wash layers, this time adding a slightly darker brown
in certain areas only. all very subtle so I'm not sure the camera will pick this up? It's more like a pin wash than a general wash.
A few more details painted up like the scopes and headlights.

This is all that has been used so far for the process, some light fuel staining around the rear filler caps.

How good is the Ammo weathering series stuff as opposed to the usual enamel, oils stuff we all know? I'm tempted by the stuff but it costs a lot compared to the old methods. Some of the Ammo/AK bottles seem to me to be just ready mixed stuff i can do myself off the shelf.

You can make your own washes from enamel paints and a good quality mineral spirit so you don’t really need to buy any off the shelf stuff. I gave away all my enamels (100’s of tinlets) when I switched to acrylics like a chump a few years ago before all these new products became the norm.

I really like the Mig Ammo stuff, and each bottle will last years so I have have stumped up for a few rather than buying more enamel paint tinlets. Plus I’m lazy =-D
AK stuff is compatible to the Mig Ammo stuff but I do find the pigments in the mig product a bit finer so easier to work and blend.

Some basic weathering of the lower hull now, a touch mud.

Build a bit of Volume and Texture, looks crap at this stage as its very stark.
Some static grass added for a bit more interest.

Leave to dry and then hit it with a dust mix of Tamiya paints
