It just came to me this morning , I wonder how The Taliban cope with PSTD? first THOUGHT WAS i DON'T GIVE A FLYING **** , BUT THEN i thought it must have a negative effect on their morale surely ? Also their disabled and wounded , there must me thousands and thousands of them cluttering up the countryside .

Scuse typing. not my pooter specs .

I think they are less likely to suffer with it, or certainly to the extent as western soldier because everything that happens is "Gods will".

Since they don't get a payout for having a wobble they don't do ptsd - those boys are in it for the long haul and they don't worry about their retirement plans or whether their clothes should be tucked in or have their sleeves rolled up.

They buy their own ammunition and don't spend millions to blow up two men and a goat.

Guess who is going to win?

Commission the councils in Leicester, Bradford and the like to carry out a mail drop PTSD survey in the more fragrant parts of the community.

These can then be passed onto family members "studying in Pakistan" to see what their coping mechanisms are.

I am hoping they decide to kill themselves in the most imaginatively painful way.

I wonder how pissed off they are when they find out that heaven is fitted for but not with virgins?

If the MoD ran the Taliban then it'd all be over in a week!

I imagine PTSD is less of a problem for them due to a) the barbaric nature of normal existence in Afghan, b) the freely available (and culturally acceptable) hard drugs, and c) their fanatical religious belief which overrides normal thought processes.

Serious question. Are they all religious fanatics, or are some (most) conscripts?

Well, I suppose you have to differentiate between;

1) "career Taliban"
2) Pressed/bought help
3) External Al-Qaeida/Haqqaqi network advisors.

I suppose is you really do have a world view that either Afghanistan has never been conquered, or that the Khaliphate is inevitable you have to endure. Given even ideological terrorists have defected (one bloke left Sudan having embezelled funds from Bin Laden), there must be a fault line. Even if it is a hair crack.

The point is that how many put their children up on the front line, or do they get the ignorant from the Medrassa to fill the ranks?

I'd suggest that the ideological lot from the West are far too valuable to mess around in the fighting in Afghanistan, If there is any command and control they will be keeping those for matters in the west.

I class most Muslims as religious fanatics because their faith is a huge part of their daily life and thoughts, overriding moral codes and common sense more often than not.

Also I forgot to mention d) the survival rates from serious injuries is much, much smaller than for NATO soldiers.
