Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I am sure that there are many people out there who have been told a few tales when they joined up, and I wonder how many of them were truthful.

For instance I remember "way back when" that personnel on groundcrew were entitled to 2 pints of milk a day, but I never saw them.

Does anyone know where that came from, and did anyone see said milk.

MDN was probably the milk monitor come to think of it.
  2. Well, I rember that the Recruiting Video I watched at Harrogate and the recruiting office implied thet there was no such thing as 'spud bashing' anymore, the army had machines to do that........(after all it was the seventies!)

I did see fit to mention this to the ACC sergeant on one occasion doing fatigues ( to be pronounced fa-tig-ewes) at JLR Bovington.

    My, how they laughed
  3. When I was enlisting I was told that all Infantrymen had their brain removed on the first day of training...........

That must have been true!!!!!
  4. Now , wasn't it pilot in 2 years?
