I was seeing off a colleague to the green fields the other week and got into conversation with someone senior. He had been at a APO presentation a few years ago where some surprising statistics were put out by the APO representative. Of those who served in the 70s and 80s who went on to do the full 22 years. Statistics showed 72% of them did not live to age 65. I don't know about doing the full 22 but from my first regiment a lot are dying before 60. Can some else find a hard source for this?
