From time to time I go on a vessel tracking site called Vesselfinder. Imagine my surprise when having a look at what is in Plymouth this evening, it identified ( presumably) HMS Portland F79 as follows...Vessel PORTLAND (IMO: 8949733, MMSI: 239627000) is a military ops and currently sailing under the flag of Greece. PORTLAND has 133m length overall and beam of 16m.

Flag of Greece...surely that cant be right. Cant be bothered to join RumRation to ask....anyone here elucidate....(sorry about punctuation, using foreign setup keyboard and cant find stuff like fecking question mark anywhere

The same site tells me- Vessel HMS PORTLAND (IMO: N/A, MMSI: 765000001) is an unknown type and currently sailing under the flag of Suriname. Currently of the coast of Eastern Canada.
Why is the Portland in Portsmouth not a HMS?
PS It is still noted as being under a Greek flag?

Have you thought about actually getting a life and spending some time away from the internet?
You remind me of the silly tarts that spend a fortune going to a foreign country just to spend 2 weeks by a holiday complex pool eating British food and drinking gin and tonic.

As a matter of fact on Saturday I went to Montjuic and yesterday for a lengthy walk in the hills above Barcelona...I balance things...and when it comes to expats abroad I tend to avoid them like the plague.

The catering on board has been outsourced to Stavros Popadopulus Kebabs (Established 1980 Portsmouth). Under the franchise terms, he has the right to fly the Greek flag instead of the White Ensign.
