Support to Ukraine - the charitable sector

Some people don't give a shit.

Some people are easily emotionally manipulated by what conspiraloons, aping their US mentors, refer to as 'the Main Stream Media'

And some people, want to help other people caught up through no fault of their own in a shitstorm of global proportions.

That's pretty much it.

Most people don't give a shit one way or the other. Their main concern is the price of petrol and gas.

For some reason, it seems impossible to send money to the various countries with refugees who have Amazon and normal shops and actually buy the stuff they need. Instead what is needed is a big campaign where people buy stuff in the UK to take to a collection centre, to then be transported across half of Europe to go to refugee centres who might not need or want whatever it is being sent.

And that goes for second military kit that been cluttering up peoples garages/businesses for the last 10 years as well.

Most people don't give shit, its just the latest Facebook fad, I don't remember the great British public being so welcoming for any other sets of refugees. I remember a distinct lack of sympathy for those who drowned in the channel.
The people of Hull did, kind of. When the government in their infinite moron wisdom, thought it would be a great idea to put Iraqis and Iraqi Kurds in the same area. Especially when stabbings in the refugee community went up about oooh a thousand percent

One kind person donated a chandelier ceiling light to our collecting point. How helpful was that?????

The eccentricity of the British middle class is something benighted furrin folk will never get the hang of ....perhaps the donor was thinking of this ?

I can only think of one response oh fellow RLC cap badger:

Does the truth hurt?

Look everyone, look at me, donating some pasta.

Look everyone, look at me, "organising" a collection.

Look everyone, look at me, driving to Poland to drop off shite that people have donated.

Im a Facebook hero.

Why not just donate cash directly?

Well all my Facebook friends might not see

update for those in southampton and the surrounding area

Former Toys R Us shop is opening up again to store donations for Ukraine.
The closed superstore in Western Esplanade, Southampton, will be used by the city's Polish Social Club.
Developer Packaged Living said it was "delighted" to help by offering up the building for use following a request from Southampton City Council.
The local authority said the storage site was expected to open "in the coming week".

Michael Gove handing Lisa Nandy her ample arse in the House just now.
Yes, (perhaps) the Government could have got their act together a bit quicker to put in place a fair, secure and fit for purpose Ukrainian Refugee scheme.
However, I get the impression the Labour, SNP and Lib Dem opposition would never be satisfied with whatever scheme is put in place.
Piece of piss sitting on the Opposition benches and criticising everything the Government does, but a bit more challenging if you are actually having to implement the Policy.
I believe Gove knows his brief much better than Nandy, who always strikes me as a typical local Council Politician rather than an MP of substance. She’s the MP for Wigan don’t you know - as she never tires of telling us!

Water-cooler moment, for those who have not seen.

The original was uploaded to FB by a Ukrainian living in Germany

This moppet is now in Poland.
Most of the people in the basement shelter in Kyiv are still very much there....

The irony ( of course) is that she is also an ethnic Russian, one of those Putain and his nutjobs believe they are in Ukraine to 'protect'.

The latest video (in the Ukraine thread) is her in Poland singing the polish national anthem, in Polish, at a charity gig.

Yeah, seen....she's media frenzy bait at the moment ....Good Morning Britain and One Show faces would mud wrestle live on air to get her into the studio.....poor lil sprat.

Let's hope the Polish authorities give her some cover.

I'm standing by for some Putain fanboi to pop up with freshly manufactured evidence that she is a tool of NATO /MSM warmongers.....

Meanwhile ,elsewhere in LuvvyWorld, Mila Kunis and her bloke appear to have raised a fairly gob-smacking $35M off their own bat to support Ukrainian refugees.

< Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has praised Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher for “inspiring the world” after they raised nearly 35 million US dollars for the country.>

She was born there, fluent Russian speaker.

Ukraine: Former Southampton Toys R Us reopens as donation centre

Ukraine: Former Southampton Toys R Us reopens as donation centreClose

A former toy superstore has been reopened as a centre for those wanting to make donations for people in Ukraine.
Volunteers from a Polish social club, which started the project, said they have been "humbled" to have already received so many donations at the site in Western Esplanade, Southampton.

beat me to it !

Well done #SouthamptonCityCouncil as well as the local Polish and British communities who have rallied around. Good job people.

( Makes me wonder who the Official Receiver is for Toys'R'Us.....they had quite a big footprint in England....)

Edited to add: Seen today, spells out personal level reality faced:

This is Victor and Valentina Mayevsky. They have just fled flattened Mariupol in Ukraine. Just read their words. They are utterly devastating.

1648210290287.png

"The shelling did not stop, sometimes there were breaks and during this period of time we tried to sleep, but sleep did not come easily. The night was moonless, there was no street lighting, but the sky was red. It was real hell.
On one of the days around noon… an explosion of enormous force sounded near us: all the windows opened, from the street we heard the piercing cries of people.

There was blood all around on the street, there were parts of the bodies of people, along with fragments of the wall of the house… it is hard to say how many people were killed and injured.

We were lucky that snow fell, we collected it in buckets and stoked it on the fire to get some water. Those who ran out of water went to the spring… it was 20 minutes from our house and could cost their lives.

It was scary to go there, and near the spring itself there were dead people who had not yet been removed.

It seems that the Russian occupiers wanted to increase the death rate among civilians in Mariupol… it is terrible to realise that all these terrible things are happening in the 21st century, in Europe, in a country with 42 million citizens, in a city with a population of 500,000 people.
Even Hitler did not allow such atrocities as the Russian army does now!'"

Its one woman moaning that what she says is her family are in a safe country (Italy) and can't get to the UK.
The British says it should be okay if she follows the correct procedure.
Absolutely no evidence at all that the British state is at fault, yet the headline reels in the gullible.

In five weeks of war, 4.5 million children — more than half of Ukraine's child population — have been forced out of their homes

In five weeks of war, 4.5 million of Ukraine's 7.5 million children have been displaced. Half of all refugees from the war are children, according to UNICEF and UNHCR. More than 1 million children have arrived in Poland, with hundreds of thousands also arriving in Romania, Moldova, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. An estimated 2.5 million children remain displaced inside Ukraine.

As of March 31, according to the UN Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights, 112 children have been killed during the conflict and 149 have been injured. These figures represent only those reports that the United Nations has been able to verify. The true toll is likely far higher.

"The situation inside Ukraine is spiraling," UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said on March 30. "As the number of children fleeing their homes continues to climb, we must remember that every single one of them needs protection, education, safety and support." '

This is a video produced by a Ukrainian crowdfunding initiative called DOMIVKA - the kids and soldiers are actors but the issues they are trying to fix are very real, focussed on re-building homes in Irpin (where they are based) Bucha and Hostomel.

They have an FB page here: Domivka
I know nothing of the charity - but was passed the info from a Ukrainian friend who is currently staying in UK with her son.

Do.
or Do Not.
