Support RNs Big Salute Iraqi oil platform half marathon!

#1
The Royal Navy are currently in Command of Task Force 158, protecting the Oil Infrastructure of Iraq whilst concurrently training the Iraqi Military to assume responsibility for this task in due course. The operation is run from the Khawr Al Amaya Oil Terminal (KAAOT), a rusting half mile long oil platform in the Northern Arabian Gulf, affectionately know to us as'Waterworld'. Here, coalition staff members from the UK,US and AUS work alongside our Iraqi counterparts to protect the umbilical cord of Iraq.

In the searing heat of the Iraqi Summer (50 deg C) we have set ourselves a challenge to run a half marathon - 28 lengths of the platform - to raise money for the BFBS 'Big Salute' campaign. The 'Big Salute' is currently doing some sterling work to raise funds for 5 key service charities which support Armed Forces personnel who are adversely affected on operations throughout the world.
