I’ve just seen a strange crab uniform for sale on FaceBook MarketPlace. RAF uniform and kit bag from 1952 and 1956 - Dresses - Dunfermline, Fife | Facebook Marketplace

The whole uniform is for sale but the odd badges on the jacket - upside down LCpl stripes? - caught my eye.

I personally couldn’t comment on the upside down stripes but the quality of the ironing is completely authentic.

Edited as I am a typing biff.

As above, short lived trade rank:

Physical description
Royal Air Force Junior Technician's rank badge being a single chevron of light blue houndstooth with a narrow royal blue edging, all on a dark blue backing.
History note
Worn inverted above the elbow on the right sleeve. . In 1950 there was a reorganization of the RAF trades structure. Personnel whose duties required specialised knowledge, for example in communications and engineering, were termed Technicians and were distinguished by wearing inverted chevrons

Up until 1964ish there were 2 rank structures in the RAF, technical and admin. The technical structure was J.T., Cpl Tech, Senior Tech and Chief Tech. They all wore upside down chevrons and the Chf. Tech. had a crown above his 3 inverted chevrons. I passed out from apprentice training as one of the first to receive the disliked 4 bladed prop J.T. badge.
