  1. Up to 12 people are reported to have been killed in a suicide bomb attack on a minibus carrying foreigners near the Afghan capital, Kabul.

    The attack happened on a major road leading to the international airport. At least seven South Africans are reported to have been killed in the attack.

    "They worked for a private aviation company," a South African foreign affairs ministry spokesman told the AFP news agency.

    Jeni Ayris, who was originally from Durban in South Africa, was the owner of former African cafe and deli, Ndebele, in the Scottish capital. The 46-year-old had been in Kabul for 14 months and was due to return to Scotland on Friday.

    It is understood Ms Ayris was the customer relations manager for aircraft charter company, ACS/BalmOral.
