  1. Watford: Man Threatening To Harm Members Of Staff At Co-Op Bank In Watford, Police Say | UK News | Sky News

Police in Watford are involved in a stand-off at a bank where a man claims to have a bomb strapped to his body.

Specialist teams from Hertfordshire Police, including firearms officers, were called to the Co-Op Bank in Market Street at 10.18am this morning after reports the suspect was threatening to harm staff.
A cordon has been set up around a large area near the building and police say the man is on his own.
The force says "no members of the public are at direct risk".
It said in a statement: "Clearly, our objective is to resolve this situation as peaceably as possible and thank the public locally for their co-operation and understanding that this is a fast moving and complex situation.
"Can we ask members of the public to continue their co-operation with officers and listen to any instructions for their own safety."
    More to follow...
  2. Bloody overdraft fees.
  3. I suppose if everyone is Co-operative it should all end in ethical banking.

Wow! I used to live on that road. It was shit.
  5. No doubt it is better now!
  6. Could they not send in a wheelbarrow with a shotgun mounted on the front to 'disrupt' it?

  7. "Do you think you've been mis-sold Payment Protection Insurance?"
  8. In Watford you say? Must be one of our brown friends then.
  9. If it detonates, it could cause tens of thousands of pounds worth of improvements.

  10. Working just up the road from this. Total gridlock! Must have been about 30- 40 different Police vehicles and ambulances went past.
  11. Mmmm. Wonder if that translates as 'the suspect is bloody lucky not to now bear a passing resemblance to a collander'?

And will we in due course be treated to tales of being the third man at the mortgage lending desk?

(NB - the Sky story goes on to explain that it was EOD support, but the BBC are still breathlessly trying to infer that it was some army types with big guns, last radio report I heard...)
  12. The Balcony Rule states that all military involvement in anything is Them until proved otherwise.
  13. judging from the various photos it was officers from Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Protective services who have a custom built Armoured landrover, its visable in some of the images

however theres also guys in "firearms" kit in some images who apper to be unarmed and in vests with a greenish colour, would they be AT/ATOs

Just seen the gash footage from Sky's helo... Yep, just down the road from where I used to live.

To be fair, that's probably the most exciting thing to happen to Watford since they filmed part of that Goldie Lookin Chain video there. It does like they replaced the bus stop since I lived there though.
