Stand easy, it WAS all about WMD's and HR abuses

Iraq halts Russian and Chinese oil deals

The US-run Iraqi administration has cancelled or suspended three oil contracts with Russian and Chinese firms signed by the ousted government of Saddam Hussein.
Thamir Ghadhban, the US-appointed de facto Iraqi oil minister, said on Saturday all pre-war contracts would be re-evaluated and new deals announced soon.

"We will examine each one on its legal, economic merits," he said.

lolololololol and what the State Department tells you of course.

Any word on how many contracts British companies can expect yet?

This one really fires me up.  A few months ago Parliament was told that if they knew what Tony and George knew about Saddam's WMD then they would be as convinced about going to war as T and G.

However, Parliament was asked to take this on trust as the material was too sensitive to be put on general release.

We went to war, we won(ish).  What's to be sensitive about now?  Unless of course the evidence was not quite as compelling as we were led to believe.

All the warnings about how toothless Parliament has become appear to be absolutely spot on.

The latest news that the PM's spin doctors may have 'got to' the Intelligence Services report in order to make it more convincing does not fill me with confidence that politicians can be trusted.
Whe the infamous British report came out, weren't the Intelligence services saying "What the fcuk?"
When the infamous British report came out, weren't the Intelligence services saying "What the fcuk?"

Iraq weapons dossier 'rewritten'

The intelligence official told the BBC the dossier had been "transformed" a week before it was published on the orders of Downing Street.

He said: "The classic example was the statement that weapons of mass destruction were ready for use within 45 minutes.

"That information was not in the original draft. It was included in the dossier against our wishes because it wasn't reliable.

"Most things in the dossier were double source but that was single source and we believe that the source was wrong."

He said "most people in intelligence" were unhappy about the changes because they "didn't reflect the considered view they were putting forward".

Look spook blokes, isn't there something you can do, to get yourselves in a better light soonest? I have absolute faith in the boys and girls in Lego towers, but you're letting yourselves get shafted.

Oh and Journo blokes, get your own ideas for stories, or start putting us on commission  ;D
Anyway, here's something else for you

It is suspected that the main reason that the British Government has been forced to use this material is that the Secret Intelligence Service or MI6 simply does NOT agree with Government claims of a direct Iraq-Al Qa'ida link, has no information to support it and refuses, in this case, to manufacture evidence to suit the British Government

The rest of the document is a wheeze as well .....
