B@lls...
Either Rob Spalton (ex LI/Rifles) has taken a wrong turning or he's had to bail

Leaders entered the Valley of no Signals it is like waiting for astronauts to appear from the far side of the moon except more nerve wracking.
They will be approaching / have arrived at / passed one of the most cracking views on the PW ... not that they will have time to appreciate it

aren't they going somewhere near @Ravers gaff today?

Does he get to stand on the side of the path with his quad, doing his best Geezer Farmer Palmer impression?

I can imagine they are not too concerned about the scenery, when l entered the Henley Marathon (a long distance swim) they say in their advertising blurb that it is an opportunity to enjoy the scenery I do not recollect a single bit apart from the finish.

They will certainly appreciate the essentially downhill run into Dufton after arriving at High Cup .

...entering the Valley of No Signals, they passed down the Path of Woe, under the Cliffs of Doom, towards the ancient Fortress of Dufton, where they hoped to find food and water before continuing northwards on their perilous Quest for Glory...

Bit like Loch Ness Marathon

“The Baxters Loch Ness Marathon and Festival of Running is quite possibly one of the most stunning running events in the world. Now into its 18th year, it boasts spectacular scenery”

“The 26.2 miles of The Loch Ness Marathon follows a spectacular point-to-point route alongside world famous Loch Ness, starting in an atmospheric moorland setting and continues through stunning Highland scenery”

“The UK’s most scenic destination marathon”

Starts in the middle of nowhere (atmospheric moorland setting = wind and rainswept heather bogs), descends rapidly into a small valley, then 10 miles along that fucking Loch which you can’t see anyway because the road is in the trees.

Scenery my arrse.

Done it twice, will definitely do again.

not forgetting to avoid the Rodents of Unusual Size*

It was difficult to stay upright even on the Cam High Road yesterday afternoon. There's no way it'd have been safe to go over Pen-y-ghent in that wind (although it wounds like at least one person managed it...).

John Kelly got 5 hours rest at Middleton which means he is way off the record attempt. The record would have been getting into Alston at 2pm this afternoon.

John & Eugeni put a spurt on as Eoin seems to be going backwards?

I was in Alston when Eoin retired there a few years ago, he was in a right mess by the time he got to the CP. Hopefully he’s just pacing himself back in now.
Jayson could really benefit from his extra sleep at Middleton, he really seems to moving well now.
