I think you have to clear out you internet history - maybe some internet expert will be able to explain ?

I see that I am 22 on the start grid race (Christ how did that happen) - Race number 407)

Cheers mate, all being well I will be out on the route Saturday to late Monday. I will look out for you.

UK Outlook for Saturday 12 Jan 2019 to Monday 21 Jan 2019:
It will probably turn more unsettled in the north during the weekend, with heavy rain and strong winds, followed by showers, these possibly turning wintry over higher ground. Elsewhere, mostly cloudy with perhaps some brighter spells to the lee of high ground. Windier for many, with the risk of coastal gales in the north. There is a trend towards more changeable conditions during next week, with spells of rain followed by colder and showery conditions, possibly turning to snow on northern hills. The best of any drier and brighter interludes will be towards the south. Windy for many, with gales possible in the north. Temperatures overall near to above average, although some colder interludes are possible, especially in the north. Overnight frosts are still likely in any clearer spells elsewhere.

The buzz word amongst the Spinners currently is that it look like being a moist spin race.

NSFW Final Spine 2019 Briefing

High on the hill
Having trawled through the competitors lists a few times now , there are quite a few of the previous years Race competitors now in this years Challenger. So I expect some very fast times for the front runners.
Kinder Scout and Bleaklow are a bit moist;) not like the first day last year when they were very dry indeed.

Thanks very much appreciated.

This year I have decided to try and raise some money with a split between Combat Stress and BELSMA.

My giving page

Its a big ask, I am felling ok now but have anguished over be 100% on the start day. A slight cold can scupper you race at the moment it's all systems go.

In for a penny in for a pound

My thoughts are on getting a bit further than Hawes my finish is Hadraw

My plans this week are a little bit of last minute shopping ( waterproof gloves) and a little bit of hill walking.

Nice one, great causes.

££’s inbound at some point over the next week. But not until I’ve seen you suffer a bit first.....

Jasmin Paris will be a great one to watch, a real Ultra pedigree but first time Spiner.

Spine Race 2019 Preview - Jasmin Paris

Also, I note Jim Mann is going in the Challenger which would be a good shout for a course record if the dry weather holds up.
Should be a great race, looks like there will be some fast times in the Challenger, although it looks like rain showers on the first day and depends what the going is like under foot.

.... but hopefully not as bad for you as two or three years ago when the rain was coming down in sheets and the wind so strong that Kinder Downfall was being blown back up and over the escarpment ... again .

Forecast dry with temp in double figures for Sat /Sun. Except the Spine does not listen to it. ;);)

My mate Sharon Sullivan who completed the Spine Race last year is doing the Challenger this year.

Even better my lovely mate Lisa Wright, pocket rocket and Guinness Record Holder (fastest marathon as a playing card!), who did the Challenger last year, is upping her game and is on the startline for the big one! Go Lisa go!

All the best to you @High on the hill

So on Eoin's blog I linked to a while back, he mentioned the Barkley. I had forgotten about it until someone mentioned that there is a film worth watching (apparently on Amazon Prime) about The Barkley Marathons. So I decided to check it out and at approx 17' in this YT video, Eoin appears with his broken collarbone.

Moderately interesting more for its brutality than anything else.

Fair play to Eoin entering that stream with a broken collar bone.
