  2. Throwing yourself on a grenade in order to save your squad mates is the embodiment of the reason that medal exists in the first place.

There is no doubt in my mind that he deserves it.

  3. complete admiration

  4. From reading the article it cites a truly selfless act of sacrifice in order to save the other guys in his team.

    Truly humbling.

In this case it should not be a matter of debate in the press.

    Award it NOW.

Great love hath no man etc etc.

  6. It should be awarded already.

If there was ever a clear cut case on whom it should be issued this is it.

Unless it later transpires this is not the whole story a la Jessical Lynch and Pat Tillman.

  7. Without wishing to disagree on the sentiment - he clearly deserves it - I don't think that ArmyTimes counts as "the press", any more than "Soldier" magazine.

    RIP

Respect. I'm sure if he had been a Brit he'd be up for the VC or GC.

This chap reminds us all what our duty is and what we as people and as soldiers should aspire to be.

  9. By his actions, Spc McGinnis throughly deserves the award of this most prestigious of medals. When will the Department of Defense announce their decision?

  10. A seriously brave man and a very brave family too.

Was I the only one to read that article and end up in tears?

I do so hope this lad gets the Medal of Honor. Its so very well deserved.

  11. RIP. God bless him.

  12. RIP, a selfless act to be sure.

As an aside, sounds like he already has a Silver Star, can 2 valour awards be awarded for the same act?

  13. RIP. Brave man
