South Africa gone down the Zimbabwe route.

Is there a global award for destroying a country?

If so Zimbo must be up there, along with Venezuela.

One was the bread basket of Africa the other the country with the most proven oil reserve in the World.

Both with people starving and dying in the streets.

Just how many bail outs does Zimbo need? Had? Will want in the next 10 , well 100 years.
The Mugabe Swiss bank account must be enough to feed the country for a decade.

Worse than the ignorance, (true or feigned,) worse than the embezzlement and worse than the lies to covet it all is the supercilious and very Xhosa "how dare you question me !" attitude.

Watch that one, she wants to become the next Winnie.

After ignoring the lockdown rules she was "punished" by not having to work for two months but remained on half pay.
I could handle a ministerial position like that.

In all this furore over BLM it could be an observation that an unfortunate brush with the law is often the catalyst.

In SA it appears that the law that is now being altered.

So in this case Black Lives Make the laws to suit themselves.

The descent into corruption lack of accountability and theft by those now in power in South Africa, continues to rapidly erode the three hundred odd years it took the White tribe of Africa to build that country into a first world country in a third world continent.

...And it gets worse. Excerpt from a newsletter sent out by the DA. Looks like the ANC is angling for a one party state. SA is already de facto a one party state, with only the Western Cape run by the DA which drives the ANC batshit crazy, as the place actually works, despite all the attempts at sabotage by the regime.

My fellow South African,

Can you believe that this past weekend marked 100 days since lockdown began?

The Western Cape is now home to Africa’s biggest high-tech COVID-19 hospital and the DA-run Cape Town Government is supporting over 200 soup kitchens, among many other initiatives.

Other key milestones the DA has marked over the last 100 days include:
  • Seeing government adopt many of our proposals, such as our proposal to allow businesses to skip Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) payments to stay afloat.
  • Launching a dedicated hotline to allow the public to report police and army abuse.
  • Taking successful court actionthat has helped enable:
    • all products being sold online (at a time when there was an irrational ban on e-commerce);
    • the lifting of irrational restrictions, such as the night curfew and exercise hours, in Level 3;
    • NGOs feeding the desperate and hungry, and preventing regulations that would have seen those NGOs overwhelmed by paperwork; and
    • salons, such as hairdressers and beauticians, open their doors!
Watch this episode of the Coronacast, our twice-weekly show, where we recap what South Africa has been through since the start of lockdown, and what the DA has done, both in government and in opposition, to fight for the rights of South Africans during this unprecedented time.

There is still a long road ahead – on Monday we came into possession of a ‘top secret’ government document that proposes to make the Command Council system a model for government beyond the lockdown. This suggests a massive power grab by the ANC is on its way that will further entrench the style of governance we have seen during lockdown – one mired in secrecy, irrationality and unaccountability.
This is the pertinent paragraph...

Couldn't the Western Cape break away and declare Independence. Form their own country like the Boers did in the 19th Century when they moved North into what became the Orange Free State and the Transvaal?

Doubt it would be supported by the rest of the world. Got to have the correct people in charge to appease the screaming SJWs who then immediately lose interest and pretend they had nothing to do with the subsequent clusterfuck when they get what they wanted.

Rhodesia and SA passim.

A breakaway province/statelet would need some coastline/seaport to stay alive/profitable/viable!

Cape Town might fit the bill, but the leftist internationale will have none of it, I'm quite certain.

As Lardy says, your western democracies would squeal and screech, but it'd be ok unless your armed forces got involved.
The SANDF wouldn't be a problem as the blue jobs have trouble getting frames aloft now and a few weeks back some Cape Flats scollies relieved an "army" patrol of sixteen rifles without a shot being fired.

Not to mention all the R1s that went missing when the SANDF came into being, prompting govt to destroy what remained to prevent the remainder going the same way and falling into the hands of criminals.
