That's about the size of it.
BUT you missed out SA sending troops to the CAR to guard... SA corrupt politician's mining interests!
One assumes even the ANC have the sense to maintain a couple of brigades properly trained and equipped for regime security. Parabats, armour and reconnaissance ?

Nigeria is Africa's biggest economy at the moment. Based mainly on oil IINM.

Paras/SF are better trained than the rest but still sub par. Doesn't matter. The entire public sector, police and military are politicised and in the ANC fold.

Just like Zim.

It is well and truly poked.

It speaks volumes when you have a Major saying on social media that an elderly assault victim should have had his eyes gouged and tongue cut out he gets a reprimand. This took place in March but only very recently he was given the boot.

Around the same time some stupid woman went to prison for two years for giving an indifferent cop a mouthful after she'd been robbed at gunpoint. Double standards as usual in the Free Democratic People's Worker's Paradise of Azania.

Scorched earth policy it is, then?
Its a ridiculous quote, there wasn't much there before the dutch arrived and later still the british and if memory serves the Xhosa and Zulu themselves were immigrants, who displaced the original tribes.

True, they displaced and in the process more or less wiping them out, the San (Bushmen) & Khoikhoi (Hottentots) who were the original inhabitants.

Shocking to see a fine instrument going down the pan. I didn't know about the age of the average infantrymen, that won't work will it.

Not just age. When I compare the current mob of fat greasy bloaters with the racing snakes that used to chase us around when I was in, I doubt this lot could make it up a flight of stairs without running out of breath.

Exactly. By the way I just run off memory, can't be bothered to check my sources but I get more right than wrong.

Isn't the ANC Problem there are different strands within it. Its not a single party led by a strongman. There are those who were in exile, those in jail who probably were able to reflect better (PIRA certainly became more political down to there prison stints) and those outside enjoying media attention.

Then there are those who have never known apartheid and have been taught myths and mythology giving them a lack of understanding.

OB I am also planning a visit in August with my wife and children (11, 13 and 14). We plan to fly in to JNB spend a week in and around Kruger the across to Sodwana for some diving, Hluhlwe and then cut down to pick up Garden Route and out from CPT. Looking to hire 4 wheel drive SUV if you see any good deals, Cheers
Your wife married young!

I`ve visited a few times (not in recent years) and would not take my family unless I was armed or was meeting a mate who was armed, @Oddbod will no doubt be carrying at least a rifle so less of a worry.

I'm getting picked up at the airport by my PH or his staff & I'm reliably informed they are up to the occasion.

I`ve got a mate who`s a PH , he has a permit to carry a side arm, no doubt your PH will have one also .

OB/CptD, The biggest concern for me is getting out of the airport in a hired vehicle. Selective target, could be confused as a driver on unfamiliar roads etc, once under way the main issue is that you are in a hire vehicle and obviously a target. If there is a meet and greet security option and get out of town please let me know.

A lot of folks still regard Mugabe as a hero for sticking it to the nasty ol' colonialist oppressor (disregarding the fact most have been in Africa for generations). Not as many in Zim who lived with the shit as those outside who never experienced it, but still a large amount. Mugabe's supporters outside Zim are many and they tend to follow people like Malema but not restricted to followers of lunatics like that. Many in the ANC, along with their supporters, completely overlook the disastrous results and still think Mad Bob did a great job.

As bad as the murderous arseholes du jour are, the underlying problem is their thick as pigshit supporters who put them in power and keep them there. The fact that their own people are the main ones taking it up the mudbox appears to be of no consequence to either the despots or their people, as long as the enemy is seen to be having a hard time of it.

Africa is incurably fucked for that reason. Until the entire ingrained mindset changes, things will continue to descend into chaos.

There is change. Sadly it's slow and in a minority because the educated people who are needed the most up sticks and leave the minute they realise how they're being shafted by their leaders and by their mates who still support the madness.

The people who should be sticking around to help fix things are leaving in droves when they realise how screwed things are. Education is the solution to open folks' eyes to how they're being manipulated but it's a two edged sword in that they bugger off when they see how things are. The despots prefer an uneducated populace who don't ask questions and can be easily manipulated.

The preponderance of fluff uni courses over the STEM subjects in most SA institutions falls happily into the laps of govt and the left, who like a poor and angry voter base they can whip up against an easily identified group who can be blamed for all their ills in order to direct attention away from massive corruption and incompetence. Because feelings...

Bang on, SIR. You assume the ANC and the earlier ZANU-PF were 'advised' by the species of intellectual from this country who are socialist by instinct. You throw in North Koreans, GDR and Soviet advising security and party policy and you have a critical mass of shoite.
