Son joining up - info please!

Hi all,

My 18 year old son is currently going through the joining process. He's waiting for his assessment centre date to be confirmed. I want to be as involved as possible to support him 100%. He wants to join the paras.

I'm struggling to find information on the exact timeline of joining events - can anyone help me with this please.
So far I have (unsure if correct):

-application submitted
-attend Army brief
-Phone interview
-medical record requested
-assessment centre (Edinburgh) - 2 days
-Prac course - (Catterick) - 3 days
-Phase 1 basic training (Catterick) - 28 days
-Pre Parachute selection (PPS) run by P Coy (Catterick) -2? days - is this P Company???
-phase 2 training - specialist Para training?

Any further info would be much appreciated and clarification of any of the above would be great. Thank you :)

I am not and never will be Airborne, but I can answer this bit. Depot Para as it's called is 6 months and includes P Coy. Once he completes this he will get a maroon beret and will be posted to a battalion. Some time after this he will attend BPC, at which he will do 8 jumps, and then he will get his wings. Good luck to him!

After his PRAC he will be given a start date for ITC Catterick. If he is hoping to join Para Reg he will have to complete the 30-week PARA Combat Infantry Course. This includes basic training and Infantry training (Phase 1 & 2), plus the famous 'P' Company (P Coy).
