Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Brilliant - I've had quite a few nights where I still don't know what I did but that is bloody good drills!
  2. I was stabbed as a teenager with a 3" blade during a fight, that didn't hurt and I didn't even know I'd been stabbed until I saw the hole in my coat and a small trickle of blood, lifted up my shirt and saw a tiny bit of fat hanging out of the wound.

Also put my hand through a glass window once when I fell and sliced open my thumb, that bled a lot but didn't hurt.

It's something to do with the nerve endings being close to the skin I think, the deeper the wound the less it hurts, might also be adrenelin and shock and of course alcohol.
