Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. The troop I'm in has regular socials like having a BBQ or visiting the local pub and also there are regular physical training events like running / tabs ect. But, aside from paint ball / air soft, what else is there to do?

Anyone organize events for weekends? Or have any ideas?

And no! A trip to Clacton sea front is not a social.
  2. Hillwalking, film nights, museum (or other places of interest) visits, etc. etc.

    Use your imagination.

BTW Why isn't a day trip to the seaside a social? Surely there are some decent pubs in Clacton?
  3. You've obviously never been to Clacton :D
  4. Whats wrong with an honest game of Freckles and some friendly "jousting"? Some units swear by it.
  5. Social = naked bar :D
  6. Designated drivers!
  7. Hire a bus.
  8. There are two things you obviously don't know about designated drivers.

    1. They are designated. (Voluntold, paid ED money collected from the others if necessary).

    2. They drive.

    Hope this helps.
  9. charity games night
money to charity or keep it at home and contribute to the unit's mess funds to put back into those who do turn up regularly.
if youve got your own bar at the unit its great to use it, but spice it up with a twist i.e. games/auction/raffle etc and invite the old and bold back too. let them know you havent forgotten about them!
you can get your regimental association involved in a night like that, and typically they liek to meet once a month.
