Social media is it Toxic Bubble...

This was quite a good fun article.

The Encryption Debate Is Over - Dead At The Hands Of Facebook

In it the article notes -

You may or may not mind Law Enforcement or Intelligence Services having the capability to do this....

Principles for a More Informed Exceptional Access Debate

However, private companies having the capability to do it should be another thing entirely.

Of course, they'll only perform such activity at the behest of legitimate requests from responsible nation states....

TL;DR

Boumer has many hats, but needs a new one.

Withholding data from the Facebook Empire is breaching their revenue model, somewhat like tax evasion. Perhaps they just don't want the non-paying users to realise that the 100% altruistic enterprise isn't..
Facebook financial transactions coming soon. Facebook personal health management next?
Sinister ****s... It's like a mass cult and they've lost control.

Perhaps the most interesting point in the below is the requirement for precision.

Data science based influence may not influence many, but if the few that matter are influence in the area that matters; the results can be worth the effort.

All this is simply the more rigourous application of another idea -

"The Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will"

As was noted by Arthur C Clarke -
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Hopefully he was less likely to drop some gear and crap on your carpet than Aleister Crowley (who authored the first quote to explain Magick).

I seem to recall that a certain head of the US psy ops unit was supposed to be a practicing Satanist.

Looks like they finally found a use for those lads who ran the Arms Plot.

What is going on in The Data Science lab I wonder....
Given that it's a government project, there's a high chance that everybody will parrot, "It's alive!" but very little chance it actually will be.

Well what could possibly go wrong here......

Excellent gif image!
Tom Watson was quoted. He has zero credibility. I'd rather get neutral and knowledgable oversight.
We know that there are concerns about supposedly anonymized data, whether it's really anonymized, pseudonymized or immediately identifiable. Microsoft, Google, Farcebook, etc.
Did breakaway Labour MPs attempt to take membership data or was it someone else?
Data breach rumours abound as UK Labour Party locks down access to member databases

I'll just be here with my cables. Don't mind me.

Exam boards must take the lead in monitoring “the dark web” for exam malpractice and should make better use of technology - such as tracking packs of papers - to combat cheating, the report says.

The dark web isn't Twitter with the lights turned off.

Tell you what, after intellectual property theft, child sex abuse imagery and terrorist material, then stolen credit cards, or drugs or; actually, your so far down the list of priorities you've got back to the front of the queue. Winner.

Still, I don't work for the government anymore - so sure, I'll do your indicators of compromise stuff and give you a nice dashboard for a PowerPoint.

For a badly written civil service contract, I'll throw in a free massage too...muhahaha.

I like it.

Well-meaning academics (with a penchant for insecure exam questions storage) pack a light picnic hamper and go skipping into the deep, dark woods to find the cheeky, but inherently good-hearted rascals who are selling exam results.

What could possibly go wrong?

(Turn over the page if you need more room to answer.)

I've had a good batting average with teachers, and that sounds like the start of a great porn film.

"But Boumer said He'd help me understand the different between surface, deep and dark...."

Oooo I know this one. Does it involve the words:
"I was only doing it for research!"

Followed closely by the words
"Visor? Yes I have a couple of them at home... Why are you spelling it ViSOR?"
