Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. What are the people like during basic training does everyone get on with each other is it easy to make friends there. What was it like for you?
  2. It's one big happy family with lots of bum love and suckie suckie.
  3. Bring a bottle, you'll be fine

The RSM will fall you all in on the square, check your shoes are shiney and then take part in a group hug.

Then you'll be made to run with a log until your heart comes out of your nostrils
  4. Yeah its all good. There will be people you wont like but you learn to get along with each other.

Just dont come with an attitude or front like a big man.

    1. Battlefield Tours

You'll sit around the campfire singing 'Ging gang gooley' & then the nice corporal will come & tuck you in bed or if you are really lucky he will climb in with you.
  6. your going to die!!!!
  7. He/she is obliged to read you a story (like Winnie the Pooh's blustery day for example) and has to wake you up with a cup of tea/coffee which you have to request in writing the night before. If he/she doesn't then you can sue.
  8. My time at basic and ITC (Infantry Training Centre) involved the usual male past times. This included fighting, drinking and generally learning how to become a man.

    The key rules are:

    1. Shut up and do as you are told by the instructors.

    2. Don't jack on people and help the weaker along.

    3. Ref to above - Don't get walked over by the so called hard men.

    4. If someone starts on you don't take any c*ap and fight back (even if you lose people will think twice).

    5. Play Grey all the way and you will be noticed for all the right reasons.

P.S. Don't fight if the bloke if he is 7 feet and 20 stone and you are a skinny rat.

Armies are a naturally aggressive place but you will meet some of the finest people known to man and make some life long friends you will never forget.
