Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. At about this time of this day, 35 years ago, we had marched up the steps into Old College and were handing in SLRs and bayonets, and setting fire to our bulled ammo boots.

To all those who passed out at RMAS on this day, as members of Standard Military Course Number 5 (and in particular the rest of the small handful survived as No 1 (Champion) Platoon, Alamein Company: Greetings.

It was without doubt the proudest day of my life.

I only regret that my father didn't live to see it.
  2. Happy commissioning day many happy returns, old git (sir)
  3. Congratulations Stonker.

IIRC one D. Richards attended POSUC in Victory College just after you passed out as did D. Leakey., and J. Cooper was in the SMC after yours.
    Quite a year!
  4. Congratulations from an SMC 20 nig (only 30 years ago).
  5. Are you retiring as a Major?

I knew his father, what a brilliant and interesting bloke.
  7. Not quite: I resigned as one, 3 days before Robin Cook quit the gunmint.

My feelings about our 'leaders' at that point about as far removed from 28 June 1974 as anyone could possibly imagine.
