Sleeping Bag and Bivvy Bag Wanted

#1
I am doing a charity event at the back end of June and I need a sleeping bag and bivvy bag. I have used the army issue ones previously and I think they will be more than up to the task.

Does anyone have one lying around they would be interested in selling? Preferably clean and in good nick.

Best price I have found on the Tinterweb is £40 for a good condition 90 Pattern Sleeping bag (As in the link above)

If anyone in the arrse community has one I would rather give you guys the money.

I've yet to find anything to beat a 58 pattern combined with a modern bivi bag. None of the civilian shite comes close. The one I have at the mo is from one of those MoD disposal websites and was only a tenner, plus another £7 for the bivi bag (and whatever it cost for delivery).

I used to have a 58 Pattern, I quite liked it but I found it difficult to launder. It was warm though which didn't help because after a few trips it started to smell a bit sweaty.

I have used the 90 Pattern with an Issue Bivi bag and found it quite comfortable.

Good point, it's a right bugger to wash.

That said I am half tempted because although a bit heavier it was dead comfy
I don't think you'll find better for your charity event. The 58 pattern has a nice waterproof underside which helps insulate a little bit against the cold ground - I'm assuming you're doing one of those overnight sleeping rough things, in which case you should chuck up some sort of link so ARRSErs can throw cash at you that would otherwise be wasted on Meths or low-quality pay-per-view porn.

Myself and a few others are walking a route known as the Larig Ghru camping out and then heading back over the same route.

TECHNOLOGY CONFUSES ME WHY ARE THERE SO MANY BUTTONS (LINK BELOW THANKS TO ZERO-OVER)

If people donate via Justgiving either by the text number or the web page the money goes straight to our charity which is COPS.

I have found plenty of places selling them on the internet, I quite enjoy camping so it will get used especially as I make the effort to get fit again. But many thanks for the offer.

Feel free to join us in Scotland.

The original plan was to call it the Getaway, and have a team of police officers set off an hour behind us and try and catch us and then swap for the return journey. We struggled to form the second team so we are just doing a generic walk now.

"Unfit student dies on mountain"

I don't think having to lug my corpse down the hill would help your schedule!

I am not that unfit, I can't run very fast but I can read a map and keep going. Large dose of common sense too, If the weather comes in I am sitting tight in a sleeping bag and waiting out. I have 6 weeks of holidays left I should survive should it all go wrong as long as I can figure out how to catch and cook wild haggis.

You have evidently not tried hard enough. The 58 bag was terrible in many ways - heavy, awful to launder, poor performance after laundering and generally pish. There is little in the modern world of bags that is not better than the 58 was - synthetic or down. The addition of a foam sleep mat would give comfort and improved warmth - not using one would be daft.
