Sky+ to Laptop to HDD

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I have a concert on my Sky+ (Hard Rock Calling Festival 2012). I want to transfer it to my laptop and HDD as an AVI. How do I do it and what do I need.

In answering this question please understand that I'm not exactly a techy-geek and throwing lots of TLAs and technobabble at me will only confuse me.

  2. Is the concert on youtube? if so rip it off there with a browser application,

  3. All that's on YouTube is single tracks from the concert. Not the whole thing.

  4. If you have a DVD recorder yoou can connect to sky+ box and copy straight to it (providing sky have not copywritten it). Sky even tell you how to do it in the instructions/help

  5. DVD recorder is the easiest way.

    Connect as per sky's instructions.
Make sure the DVD recorder is on the sky channel
Press play on sky, press record on DVD recorder
Come back in a couple of hours
Burn to disk, then rip the disk to your laptop.
    Sorted.

  6. I may have to borrow a DVD Recorder off someone then.... Thanks

  7. got told by the sky repair man the other day that even though sky boxes have usb ports they are disabled.
this to stop people from saving programs to external hdd or to laptops!
